Zuckerberg Is Arrogant - Mexican President

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Friday accused Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg of “arrogance” after the social network announced an indefinite suspension of US President Donald Trump’s accounts.

Zuckerberg said Thursday that the ban was because of Trump’s “use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government.”

The announcement came a day after Trump was locked out of all major social media platforms due to his false claims about the legitimacy of his loss to President-elect Joe Biden, and for inciting supporters who stormed the US Capitol.

“I read the letter from the owner of Facebook and felt a lot of arrogance, speaking about its rules,” Lopez Obrador told AFP reporters.

“And what about freedom and the right to information?”

Lopez Obrador had earlier criticized what he called “censorship” by Twitter and Facebook.

The leftwing populist has had a cordial relationship with Trump and was one of the last high-profile leaders to congratulate Biden on his election victory.

He welcomed Trump’s promise of a smooth transition of power, calling it “good news.”

Trump’s Twitter account was restored Thursday.
