Just as the Nigerian Labour Congress is planning to embark on strike, doctors in Zamfara state are shelving theirs.
One thing is guaranteed though, the workers are disgruntled just as many other Nigerians are.
Medical doctors in Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, ASYBSH, Gusau in Zamfara have suspended their plan to embark on an indefinite strike on September 4.
They communicated this via a statement on Friday through the state branch of Nigeria Medical Association, NMA.
NMA State Chairman, Dr Sanusi Bello and Secretary, Dr Murtala Shinkafi, both signed the statement.
Date Of Planned Strike
The medical doctors earlier fixed September 4 to begin indefinite strike over non payment of their salaries and allowances by the state government.

The statement read in part, “This is to notify the general public that the industrial strike planned by doctors of ASYBSH has been suspended.”
Dispute Resolved
They said the state government helped resolve the industrial dispute to the satisfaction of the state NMA.
“All the outstanding salaries of the affected doctors have been settled,” the doctors said in the statement.
They added that preparations had reached advanced stage to settle the outstanding allowances of visiting consultants and Professors, as well as the issue of third party deductions.
