A Nigerian man, identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau who climbed a high broadband mast on Monday, July 8, 2024, at ASO Radio in Katampe, Abuja has gone for mental evaluation.
According to the FCT police, if he is found mentally stable, he will be charged to court for attempted suicide- FCT police
The FCT police command has today, July 9, 2024, sent Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau to the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) for mental assessment and evaluation.
This follows his action of “activism” on behalf of Nigerians.
Yushau, who climbed a broadcast mast, vowed to end it all if fuel subsidy isn’t restored, inflation rate isn’t improved, the country’s insecurity situation isn’t looked into, amongst other challenges.
According to the spokesperson of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspect, if found to be mentally stable after the test, will be charged to court for attempted suicide.
Furthermore, she said his actions led to disturbance of public peace, and incitement contrary to sections 231, 111, and 114 of the Penal Code Act.

In addition, she mentioned that the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, has urged residents to be law-abiding while pushing for their voices to be heard.
Also, he added that the police will not be stampeded into allowing the breakdown of law and order.
