The Dutchman, however, could turn down the offer, as he is close to replacing Vincent Kompany at Championship side Burnley.

Per De Telegraaf, the Clarerts are closing in on appointing the 47-year-old as their new boss after Kompany left for Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

Previously, Van Nistelrooy worked as an assistant manager for the Netherlands national team and then managed PSV Eindhoven’s U-19 side before taking charge of their senior side in 2022.

He, however, departed the Dutch giants in the final phase of the 2022-2023 season, despite having a contract until 2025.

Irrespective of Van Nistelrooy’s arrival at the club, the INEOS group and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are likely to make changes in Ten Hag’s coaching staff.

The former Real Madrid forward is expected to take a final decision by next week.
