Nigerian students are already becoming restive, and you can blame it on the removal of petrol subsidy.
On the other side of the divide is increasing inflation that has hit the Nigeria economy.
Parents are bearing the burden, but students are saying that increment of fees would complicate the already bad situation.
The Protest
One of schools with protesting students is the University of Jos, Plateau State.
On Tuesday, the students blocked roads leading to the campus in protest, following an increase in school fees and other services rendered by the institution.
The student protesters, mobilised by leaders of the Students Union Government of the institution, called for an urgent reversal of the hike in school fees and other services rendered by the University.
Armed with placards with different inscriptions such as “if your children can afford the money, we can’t”, and “we don’t want to drop out of school”, among others.

Meanwhile, the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, has said its fee is not the highest among federal universities in Nigeria.
Recently, UNILAG reviewed its obligatory charges, but the National Association of Nigerian Students decided to protest against the increment on Wednesday.
In an earlier protest, some NANS members who gathered at the school’s gate were stopped with tear-gas by security operatives.
A top principal officer who does not want his name mentioned said that the NANS members calling for the protest were no longer students of the institution.
Therefore, they have no right to call for protest on behalf of UNILAG’s authentic students.
