“We learned the two of them died. The driver of the tipper has been arrested while the corpses have been deposited in the morgue at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital,” Abutu noted.
An eyewitness who affirmed the incident, noted that the policemen were on a motorcycle when the truck driver hit them at a spot where traffic was diverted for reconstruction purposes on the dualized Ado-Iworoko Road.
The policemen were coming towards the heart of the town while the truck was going towards the direction of Iworoko when the driver suddenly crossed to their lane due to the road diversion and crushed them,” said the eyewitness, who pleaded not to be mentioned in print.
