The final FIFA World Rankings for 2024 have been unveiled, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles holding steady in 44th position globally and 5th in Africa, mirroring their November rankings.
This year has been challenging for the Super Eagles despite finishing second in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and securing qualification for the next edition
who experienced a sharp drop last month, sliding eight spots from 36th after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Benin and a shocking 2-1 loss to Rwanda in Uyo during the final round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Despite securing qualification for the tournament, Nigeria’s recent performances resulted in a loss of 21.06 ranking points, reducing their total to 1482.23, in the previous update.
On the continental stage, Morocco remains Africa’s top-ranked team, finishing 14th globally, followed by Senegal in 17th.
Egypt (33rd), Algeria (37th), and Nigeria (44th) complete Africa’s top five. Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, and South Africa round out the top 10 African teams.
