Kiernan Jarryd Forbes known as AKA was shot and killed in Durban, South Africa on Friday night.
He was said to be the target of a drive-by shooting.
Another close friend of his was also killed while his bodyguard was injured.
Reports say AKA was shot outside the Wish Restaurant on Florida Road.
The rapper was reportedly planning to celebrate his birthday at the YUGO nightclub in Stamford Hill after leaving the restaurant.
A close friend to the rapper ‘Da Les’ took to Twitter to express his grief at AKA’s death.

AKA rose to prominence with his single “Victory Lap” which was featured in his 2011 debut album “Altar Ego”.
He infiltrated the Nigerian market with his popular single “Fela in Versace”.
Police Confirms Investigation
Provincial police have confirmed the death of the rapper although no names were mentioned,. It was indicated that the deceased was a popular musician.

The force is investigating two murder cases and is yet to establish the motive for the murders, Police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, says.
Florida Road has been closed off after the shooting incident where two people have been confirmed dead, ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, adds.
