It was 7 a.m. on Wednesday, and the festivity was one that could be noticed even by someone without sight.

While Nigerian Christians celebrated the birth of the saviour, men of the Air Force paid more attention to their jobs.

Indeed, the Lakurawa terrorist group has left the country more terrified and for the Air Force, it was enough.

The time was ripe for action and trust the men of the force, action is a part of them no one can take away.

“Target acquired”, they communicated.

Before anyone knew what was happening, bombs started dropping from the sky like rain.

Christmas Day Bombing 

That was how two communities within the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State recorded a tragedy like never before.

As we speak, numerous villagers are feared to have lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries.

The communities affected by this tragic incident are Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa.

The chairman of Silame LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, confirmed the occurrence of the attack, stating that they are currently evaluating the extent of the damage inflicted by the airstrike.

“The villagers were sitting peacefully when the bombs started dropping on the communities. They were innocent and peace-loving people who had no any criminal record.

“It was early for me to confirm the number of people either killed or injured because we are still assessing the development,” he said.

Another source informed journalists that more than ten villagers were killed, with numerous others suffering from various degrees of injuries as a result of the airstrike.

This tragic report sparked nothing but outrage from Nigerians.

But while reacting to this report, the FG said such bombing never occurred.

The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, made the denial in a post via his X account late on Wednesday night.

“Kindly disregard any news about fighter jets mistakenly bombing communities in Sokoto,” he wrote.

This only made things worst.

The already burning outrage was now spiced with confusion.

The confusion became more when the military decided to speak.

Make no mistake, while the government said there was no bombing in Sokoto, the military says there was a bombing.

The joint media coordinator for the operation, Abubakar Abdullahi, in a statement, said the airstrikes targeted locations confirmed to be associated with the Lakurawa terrorist group.

Abdullahi said all military operations are conducted based on thorough intelligence and reconnaissance missions to ensure precision and protect civilian lives.

Now, Nigerians do not know who or what to believe.

The reactions online are such that do not only communicate confusion, but anger.
