Shaboozey’s hit single, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” has matched the record for the longest-running No. 1 track in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.
The song now shares the top spot with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, which held the position for 19 weeks in 2019.
Released in July, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is Shaboozey’s first No. 1 on the Hot 100. The track has also dominated the Hot Country Songs chart for 23 consecutive weeks and performed strongly across multiple charts, including Country Airplay, Pop Airplay, and Adult Pop Airplay.
Speaking of country music, Shaboozey said “The style and way of life resonated with me in a really strong way,”.
“It’s peaceful and real. Country music shows that the little things in life like taking a ride in a truck to watch the sunset hold true value.”
The song, which re-imagines J-Kwon’s 2004 hit “Tipsy,” reflects Shaboozey’s aim to innovate music.
“I love hip-hop; I’m part of that community too,” he said. “But I want to disrupt and show people that music is always progressing.”
