Shortly after mistakenly dropping bombs in Sokoto State leading to the death of over 10 individuals and many others injured, the Nigerian Military again found itself at the middle of a huge controversy.
Just as the military were busy trying to calm the tension sparked as a result of the airstrike in Sokoto, former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, dropped another bombshell.
Atiku, a strong opposition of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and President Bola Tinubu, did not waste a second airing out his frustration immediately after he spotted a video of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, receiving a military honour.
In the video, Seyi Tinubu was seen being accorded a presidential honour and inspecting a guards parade, with personnel dressed in military uniforms.
Atiku Vs Seyi Tinubu
This is “anomaly” and a “serious breach of military tradition,” Atiku lamented on Sunday.
“It is with utter dismay and concern that Nigerians were subjected to a nauseating video circulating online, where a group of young men, armed and in full military procession, bestowed upon the President’s son unwarranted military honours,” the ex-Vice President said.

As a matter of fact, the former Vice President called for an investigation into the video.
But guess what?
Meanwhile, the military has spoken, and they claim not to be aware of recent guards parade held by the military personnel for Seyi Tinubu.
It was during an interview that the Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, addressed the issue.
He said the personnel captured in the viral video are unknown to the military.
Gusau, who was shown a screenshot from the video, said, “They are not our personnel. The military don’t dress that way. We don’t have this type of badge of rank. We don’t know them.”
