The death of the governorship aspirant of the Labour Party, (LP) in Imo State, Humphrey Anumudu, is still a shocker to many persons.
They are surprised because Anumudu was perfectly fine before reports of his demise. He even attended a meeting on that fateful day.
Shockingly, he was found dead in his house in Lagos after he had returned from the LP meeting at the party national headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
Spiritual Attack
Anumudu had plans of contesting in the governorship primaries of the LP.
But politics in Nigeria could be quite different from what it is in other clans.
It is for that reason that people claim politicians seek protection from churches and spiritual homes. Also, people claim others go the extra mile to fortify themselves.
According to people who share this thought, politicians do so because they don’t want to suffer the same fate as Anumudu.
For instance, a family source described Anumudu’s demise as a “spiritual attack”.
A close friend of the deceased said that he died around 5:30PM on Friday.

Anumudu is from Mbieri Ancient Kingdom in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state.
Anumudu a multi-billionaire businessman cum politician has been contesting for the governorship seat of the state since 1998.
He was said to be the true winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in the state in 1998 before the ticket was ceded to Achike Udenwa who went on to rule the state between 1999 and 2007.
Since then he had been contesting for the number one seat of the state.

In 2019 he was the Zenith Labour party governorship candidate.
Before his demise, the late politician had already paid the sum of 25 million Naira for Labour Party’s Governorship form for the November 11 2023 Guber contest.
Anumudu, a respected legal luminary and an astute politician was also the Chief Executive Officer of Globe Motors.
