Thibaut Courtois is happy to let Rodrygo “get angry” as part of Real Madrid’s supposed ‘BMV’ rivalry with Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius.
With World Cup winner Mbappe arriving at Santiago Bernabeu over the summer, much has been made of the attacking talent that is now available to Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Another collection of so-called ‘Galacticos’ has been assembled in the Spanish capital.
Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius Junior are attracting plenty of attention – as they are billed as a ‘BMV’ unit to rival the ‘MSN’ and ‘BBC’ strike forces that once featured Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Brazil international Rodrygo is being overlooked in that discussion, despite being among the goals for club and country this season, with the 23-year-old also less than impressed at being left off the 30-man list of contenders for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Madrid colleague Courtois has told streaming star Ibai of why that frustration can be channelled in a positive way:
“Now journalists want to put three letters and they put Jude, Vini and Mbappe.
“We in the locker room know the importance and quality of Rodrygo, there is no need for him to get angry about that but if he plays better, then let him get angry.”

England star Bellingham has already offered his take on that debate, saying in the comments section of Rodrygo’s latest Instagram post:
“Only the fools forget the R.”
La Liga and Champions League title holders Real will be back in action on Saturday when playing host to Espanyol.
