Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed the truth behind the ‘Bobby’ nickname handed out to Brazilian wonderkid Endrick.
The exciting South American forward completed a move to Santiago Bernabeu over the summer after celebrating his 18th birthday.
He is considered to be a hot prospect for the future and saw the Blancos rubbish any plans to send him out on loan after arriving in Spain.
However, Endrick is eager to make a positive impact on the field, having already raised eyebrows off it.
After scoring for Brazil in an international friendly date with England at Wembley, the youngster was reported as saying that World Cup winner Sir Bobby Charlton was one of his idols.
Also, new club colleague Courtois has told streaming star Ibai Llanos that the teenager may have seen his words twisted.
The Belgian goalkeeper has said: “He told me that he had been misinterpreted, that what he wanted to refer to had been changed a bit, or something like that.
“I asked him about it one day and he told me that he hadn’t given that answer, that later the video was changed as if he said that he was his idol.”

Whatever Endrick said, he is now unable to escape Charlton’s shadow.
Courtois added on a playful nickname being handed out in Madrid: “Jude Bellingham started calling him ‘Bobby’ and well, after a while everyone does it.”

Endrick has had to be patient when it comes to seeing regular game time for Real, with fierce competition for attacking berths provided by Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.
He has, however, opened his La Liga and Champions League goal accounts – with the target found in some style last time out during a European clash with Stuttgart.
