Pump Price Of Petrol In Lagos Today

It appears that unifying the price of petrol in Nigeria is the next battle that the current administration will have to fight. For instance, the price of petrol in Lagos is not even uniform.

Imagine what it will be like in other less civilised states in Nigeria.

price of petrol in LagosIndeed, people say Nigeria is a cruise country, and, yes, there are little things that show this statement could be true.

Interestingly, this cruise is often obvious in cities with high population.

While some cry about a policy, some persons are smiling to the banks already.

The pump price of petrol in Lagos State at the moment is something that lays credence to the fact that people exploit every situation in Nigeria.

Well, where there is very low level of law enforcement, one will not expect anything different.

Really, there is this frenzy going on in Nigeria today on the pump price of petrol. The new President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, created it the moment he said ‘subsidy is gone’.

Sadly, the President may not have seen it coming, as he may not know what it means to buy petrol from a fuel station. But the reality today is that different fuel stations have their pump price of petrol in Lagos State.

The Exploit Of End Users

After that pronouncement by the President, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) quickly increased the price of petrol to between ₦488 and ₦557.

But fuel stations are cruising on different pump prices in Lagos.

One buyer was kind enough to share the video below, showing 600 Naira per litre.

Unfortunately for the ETNL fuel station, authorities showed up unexpectedly and sealed the station for selling above the pump price of between ₦488 and ₦557.

Furthermore, a quick survey on the pump price of petrol in Lagos revealed that most fuel stations are selling above the official price.

Bovas fuel station sold fuel on June 2 for ₦600. Mobil is selling at ₦700 while Enyo, just like the others, is also selling at ₦590.

From observation, Enyo is the closest to the approved price.

NNPC on the other hand is selling at ₦450.

Many of the fuel stations in the state are not open to customers and it is not clear whether they have fuel or not.

Now, this rise in the pump price of petrol in Lagos State is casting a shadow on the ability of some persons to continue to go to work in the mega city.

Commercial vehicle drivers are the first to heap the multiplier effect of subsidy removal on commuters.

As of Friday, June 2, transport fare has had between 100% to 200% increase.

If salary remains the same after June, without palliatives, some workers may voluntarily resign, as the cost of going to work becomes more unbearable.

Amidst all of these, president Tinubu is assuring Nigerians of economic improvement. Watch video.
