“Proclaiming Christ Has Led to Industry Discrimination,” Spyro

In an industry where glitz, glamour, and controversy often take centre stage, standing firm in faith can feel like swimming against the tide.

For Nigerian singer, Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, the journey has been anything but easy. He now has a cross to carry.

The “Who’s Your Guy” hitmaker recently opened up about the challenges he faces in the music industry due to his unapologetic proclamation of his Christian faith.

"Proclaiming Christ Has Led to Industry Discrimination," Spyro

Spyro, known for his soulful melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, revealed that his commitment to Christ has not been without consequences.

According to him, his openness about his faith has led to discrimination and bias in an industry that often prioritises secularism over spirituality.

“I’ve realised that proclaiming Christ in this industry comes with its challenges,” Spyro shared during a recent interview.

“People tend to overlook you, sideline you, or even judge you unfairly because you choose to stand for something they don’t understand or believe in.”

Despite the hurdles, Spyro remains unwavering in his beliefs.

Also, he emphasised that his faith is not just a personal choice but a guiding principle that shapes his music, decisions, and interactions.

However, for an artist like Spyro, who openly integrates his Christian values into his persona and art, the road can be lonely.

He noted that opportunities are sometimes withheld, and collaborations can become scarce when an artist refuses to conform to the industry’s norms.

“It’s not easy, but I know who I am and who I serve,” Spyro said.

I would rather face discrimination than compromise my faith. Christ has been my foundation, and I will never trade that for anything.”

Should Spyro jump ship to gospel music?
