Months ago, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and a famous Nigerian entrepreneur brought hope and excitement to Nigerians, one that even the Federal Government had not given to them in a long time.
However, like an unfaithful partner, Dangote broke the hearts of Nigerians or should we say served them ‘breakfast’ as our dear Gen Zs would say.
Well, the big question remains, who is to blame?
Do we blame Dangote for taking his product elsewhere after being ignored by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC)?
Or do we blame the government for failing to build or revamp its refinery leaving Dangote as Nigeria’s only hope?
Well, that hope has now been dashed as Dangote takes his petrol offshore for serious buyers.
For Nigerians, every hope of ever getting affordable and cheap petrol is lost.
We do not need to tell you what this means for Nigeria and by extension, Nigerians.
While Dangote exported his product, the NNPC took delivery of petrol from a foreign refinery.

Ironically, shortly after this development, the price of petrol crashed a little further down.
Well, this has not stopped Nigerians from expressing their frustration over the Dangote Refinery as it has failed to fulfill its promise.
Many have said that the country was better off without a refinery of its own.
One cannot begin to imagine how hurt these people may have been before reaching such a conclusion.
As we speak, Nigerians do not know their fate.
Will it get better?
Or will it get worse as usual?
Only time will tell.
