A top security body in Iran has revealed that over 200 persons have been killed in the country since nationwide protests started.
The protests started as a result of the death of Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian on September 16, 2022.

Amini was arrested in Tehran for allegedly breaching the Islamic republic’s dress code for women and she died in the police custody.
According to the official IRNA news agency, the country’s Supreme Nation Security Council said the number of persons that have been killed in the protests sparked by her death “exceeded 200.”
The security agency claims the figures also includes security officers, civilians, “separatists” and protesters.
A general in the Iran Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had earlier said more than 300 persons had lost their lives in the protests.
The security council also said the acts of violence from protesters has caused loss of millions of dollars in damages.
