Adebola Sodiq appears to be crowning his service to Nigeria with a crime he could have avoided if he had listened to the tiny voice, saying; “don’t do it”.
His erection and lust have now put him on the road to the over-crowded Nigerian prisons where hardened criminals are groomed (see source).
The young man will surely be looking back on that day and wondering how his lust, unknowing to him, pushed him to rape a woman.
He had told the police something made him did it and that it was not from his mind.
The youth corper, serving under the Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) raped a 20-year-old woman in a community in Ogun State.
His desires appear to have brought in a little black ink into the white ‘paints’ colouring the 50-year Anniversary of the NYSC.
The Police spokesman, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed this rape incident while parading the suspect at the Owode Egba divisional headquarters.
According to the police, Sodiq was arrested on Friday following a report lodged at police headquarters by the victim.
The Gift
The suspect, who happens to be a boyfriend to a very close friend of the victim.
He deceived his girlfriend’s friend and laid with her by force.
On that faithful day, May 9, 2023, Corper Adebola came to her apartment where she lives with her co-workers.
He asked her to accompany him to the village junction to buy a gift for her in commemoration of her recently celebrated birthday.
As an intimate friend of the suspect’s girlfriend, the unsuspecting victim did not know something was in the offing.
She inauspiciously followed the Corps member.
However, while they were going, the NYSC member asked her to follow him to the premises of the school where he is serving, in order to pick up his wallet.
The Rape
“On getting to the school compound at Agbajege village, the suspect forcefully dragged her to his room.
“That was where he had unlawful carnal knowledge of her despite her pleading and crying for mercy,” a police statement read.

According to Oyeyemi, upon the report, the DPO Owode Egba division, CSP Olasunkanmi Popoola, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect.
He was subsequently arrested.
“On interrogation, he confessed to the commission of the crime but claimed that he didn’t know what came over him as at that time.
The victim was taken to Owode Egba general hospital by the Police for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments.
“They will help the force with further investigation and possible prosecution,” the police spokesperson added.
