As 8 gang members fell to weekend’s supremacy clash
RESIDENTS in Okporowo community in Ogbakiri, Emohua Local Area, Rivers state continue to live in fear even as police restore calm following weekend’s killing of at least six gang members in reported cults supremacy battle.
The Rivers State Police Command was yet to confirm the level of fatalities, but the presence of its personnel since Saturday evening had restored uneasy calm according to community sources.
A source, anonymous, lamented, ‘’The security operatives are doing their bit, but what we have now is graveyard peace. How can we sleep when you don’t know when and where the next bullets will start flying. These boys are full of surprises.
Another source explained that, “Thus crisis is within Okporowo community, not entire Ogbakiri land. And it is linked to tussle over who calls the shots between the Degbam and Deywell cult groups of Okporowo.
Civil Rights Council, Rivers chapter in a response by its Chairman, Prince Wiro said, “Tension is still high in the area as we speak. Travelers moving to Kalabari axis through Ogbakiri should thread with caution.
