Bayelsa people woke up today in high spirits, knowing that no one goes to battle in a dull mood so as to not lose.
Both the young and old are very excited to elect a new governor and they show it by coming out.
Sadly, the electioneering process in Bayeslsa did not start at the expected time but the people are prepared to do this.
Nigeria’s former president Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to the National Assembly to cancel off-cycle elections in Nigeria.
He said this situation is becoming worrisome and expensive. Currently, there are 7 states with off-cycle elections.

The former president feels it is only better for elections in a country to be conducted once and for all.
He cited the U.S.A. as a good example, stating that in America everybody knows when the election is happening and there is nothing like off-cycle.
Jonathan thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission for doing a good job in this election.
Vote Buying
However, there were allegations from some observers of the gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa State of vote buying.
They alleged that vote buying is rampant at some of the polling units in the state even in the presence of security operatives.

The former president carried out his civic duty at polling unit 39 Ward 13 Ogbia, Bayelsa State.
Meanwhile, voter apathy will not be an issue in this election because electorates are trooping out to choose their next governor.
The anticipation and readiness on the part of the people of Bayelsa State is so high.
Some have voted, others have not but there’s a huge loitering around the polling units as people want to be sure their votes are counted and transmitted via the IReV.
