Between January and November 2024, the national grid has collapsed 11 times, with three of these failures occurring in a single week in October.

The repeated power outages have caused widespread blackouts.

Also, it draws sharp criticism and frustration from citizens and stakeholders alike.

The most recent collapse occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m. on Wednesday, as confirmed by a tweet from the official handle of Nigeria’s National Grid.

The message read: “A major grid setback has occurred, and the restoration process is set to commence”.

However, the unprecedented frequency of these collapses in 2024 has sparked national outrage.

Many people are questioning the reliability and management of the country’s power infrastructure.

Social media platforms have been flooded with comments from exasperated Nigerians, who have expressed their grievances over the inconvenience and economic losses resulting from the blackouts.
