Unimaginably, after the NLC threatened to shutdown activities at all CBN offices nationwide for one week, the CBN suddenly remembered the notes it collected from Nigerians.

Now, we know that the CBN did not destroy all the notes it removed from the hands of Nigerians.

It says it found some some stocked up old notes that were yet to be destroyed.

Like a good boy, the CBN is making moves to put smile on the faces of Nigerians who visit ATM machines.

The apex bank says it has started releasing old notes of ₦200, ₦500 and ₦1000 denominations to commercial banks

Starting from Thursday, March 23, the CBN will disburse old notes to all commercial banks across Nigeria.

Indeed, this development is believed would end the two-month-long Naira scarcity in Nigeria. Although it will take quite some time for Naira to move to your hand. But there is hope.

The CBN’s latest decision came several weeks after the Supreme Court ordered that old ₦1,000, ₦500 and ₦200 notes should remain legal tender until December 31, 2023.

On Wednesday, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, told journalists that the CBN was looking into putting more Naira notes in circulation.
