The right-back was substituted at half-time against Aston Villa on Sunday with coach Erik ten Hag later explaining that he had to be taken off and would be sent to be examined.

He subsequently withdrew from the Morocco team this week.

Mazraoui has now undergone corrective surgery, according to The Athletic, after he experienced palpitations.

He is expected to be out of action for a period, but United hope he will be available again in a matter of weeks.

Mazraoui has made 10 appearances in all competitions since joining the Red Devils from Bayern Munich alongside fellow ex-Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt in the summer window.

He is expected to make a full recovery as his condition is said to be fairly common.
