The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, did not visit the Oba of Lagos during his trip to Lagos.
Obi has been visiting different monarchs, especially before his campaign rally in the states.
Social Media users have called out the LP candidate for allegedly disrespecting the monarch by not paying him a courtesy visit.
However, in an interview, LP Chairperson in Lagos State, Dayo Ekong, explained the candidate’s action.
According to Ekong, Obi makes sure he visits traditional rulers everywhere he goes but he was unable to do the same.
Why Peter Obi Did Not Meet The Oba
Oba of Lagos did not respond positively to our visit request, Ekong says.
According to the chairperson, Obi sent a letter to the Oba informing him of his intent to visit.
However, the candidate did not receive a positive response and can not just show up at the palace.

“People say what they don’t know. If you have been following the campaign train of Mr Obi, he goes to the royal fathers to pay homage.
“Obi made an attempt to see the Oba of Lagos but we were not able to see the Oba of Lagos,” she said.
According to her The monarch did not turn Obi away from the palace.
He never bothered embarking on the journey, she said.
The chairperson stressed Obi’s respect for cultural and traditional institutions and that the candidate did not ignore the monarch as being speculated.
