The scouts are understood to have been impressed by Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

However, according to Tuttosport, the Reds may now have changed their transfer plans.

The Dutchman’s team-mate Ederson reportedly caught the attention of the club’s representatives.

The 24-year-old Brazilian international had an impressive outing with the Serie A side.

However, he scored seven goals and provided an assist in 37 matches across all competitions.

He played an important role in Atalanta finishing fourth in the league and winning the Europa League, where they beat Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the final.

Should Koopmeiners still move to Anfield, he will reunite with Arne Slot, a manager he played under at AZ.

Also, Slot will formally replace Jurgen Klopp as the Merseyside club’s manager on June 1.
