Napoli has taken the ‘first steps’ in getting winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to sign a new contract while the Georgian international is at Euros 2024.
Sky Italia reports that Napoli figureheads headed to Germany on Thursday in an attempt to tie the 23-year-old to a new deal.
The report says new boss Antonio Conte wants to retain the Georgian star’s services after links with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, and so far talks have been positive.
The attacker has refused to confirm whether or not he will stay or go, saying recently: “Has Conte said that I’m staying?
“I don’t know yet, I respect him because he is one of the best coaches to the world but I still want to take some time to decide.
“I respect Naples, I love Naples.
“And I still don’t know how to give a certain answer about my future.”
Earlier this month, the player’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, said “we want to leave Napoli” but they were waiting to decide on his future after the Euros, prompting the Italian side to hit back at these claims – stating Kvaratskhelia was “not on the market”.
He still has three years left on his contract.

While Kvaratskhelia’s future will continue to be a hot button topic, his Georgia side are preparing for the knockout stages of Euro 2024 for the first time.
They take on heavily-fancied Spain on Sunday night but they upset the odds to beat Portugal last time out.
