From comments and reactions pouring in on different social networks, it is obvious that Junior Pope is loved by Nigerians.
Unfortunately, this love does not stop the hand of time or change simple tasks that an individual could do for himself.
Rewind to some days ago, the popular actor had beamed with excitement looking forward to going on that trip. Acting was his thing.
But from what we hear about him being dead and others saying he is alive, there are a few things we want you to see.
You could learn a thing or two.
1. Control Your Tongue
Most importantly, you should understand that the tongue was at some point in the scriptures compared with a rudder in a ship.
Also, on several occasions, we see that it has the power to ride life to an end, make it a mystery a great one.
Job once said, “for the thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me” (Job 3:25).
On the flip side, Jabez changed the curse and course of his life with his tongue in prayer (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).
No one calls death upon himself whether in joke or in seriousness.
The power of fear is able to kill and attract the things you fear.
In case you don’t know, the world we live in was created by words and words could drive our lives to the direction we speak.
Junior Pope spoke of death, begging the boat controller to reduce speed and that he does not want to die.
Most importantly, this, to a large extent reveals what runs in his heart and brings us to the next thing you should learn.
2. Fill Your Heart With Faith And Not Fear
Furthermore, it is unfortunate, but I must say that Junior Pope showed lack of faith in his creators Ability to keep him safe even in danger. This is where the devil thrives.
The devil sows a seed of fear and when you profess it, he goes to work and makes it happen according to your word.
A long time ago, Moses in the scriptures sent out spies to Jericho. They came back with evil reports. Majority of them insisted that they would not be able to enter into the promised land.
God, in response, said: “…according as ye have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you” (Numbers 14:28).
Unfortunately, all of them that expressed fear and inability to enter the promised land truly did not enter.
Let your words be words of faith and not fear.
Do not give the devil room to mess with your life, as seen in the case of Junior Pope.
3. Observe Necessary Precautions
You see, I once heard a top Bishop in Nigeria stress that if you totally rely on God for everything you have an irresponsible faith. God cannot eat your food for you or wear your cloths for you.
God is able to give you protection. But you cannot tempt God by running in front of a trailer, insisting that God will save you.
Getting on a speed boat without a life jacket is a totally wrong decision.
Even if you know how to swim, you should wear a life jacket. Really, there is so much your muscles can carry you if you are not a professional swimmer.
Junior should have asked the boat controller to turn back to the river bank the moment he felt fear.
4. Reject Some Offers Where Necessary
Finally, it is not every job or task that comes your way that you take. Find peace and reject those that do not align with your abilities sometimes.
This will keep you from unforeseen trouble, especially the one that has to do with your life.
