Now, many Customers have swarmed MTN offices, demanding answers and solutions after their phone lines were unexpectedly blocked.

MTN, one of Nigeria’s largest mobile network with millions of subscribers, deactivated several users’ lines on Sunday.

The company claims it is due to the customers’ failure to link their National Identification Numbers (NIN) with their mobile phone numbers.

However, some of the affected subscribers speculated that the move was an attempt by the company to frustrate a planned nationwide anti-government protest.

The protest is set to commence on Thursday August 1, 2024.

These allegations added to the tension and urgency among the crowd.

Also the crowd demanded an immediate resolution to restore their telephone services.

As of the time of this report, MTN has not released an official statement addressing the issue.
