JAY-Z has vehemently denied allegations of rape made against him in a new lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed by high-profile lawyer Tony Buzbee, accuses JAY-Z of raping a 13-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged victim was invited to the afterparty by one of Diddy’s drivers and was given a drink that made her feel “woozy and lightheaded.”
She claims to have lain down in an empty bedroom, where she was later allegedly assaulted by JAY-Z while Diddy and an unnamed female celebrity watched.
JAY-Z has released a rare public statement denying the allegations and blasting Buzbee as a “fraud” who tried to “blackmail” him.
The statement reads, in part: “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”
The lawsuit also names Diddy as a defendant, alleging that he provided the drink that made the alleged victim feel disoriented.
Diddy has not yet commented on the allegations.
The lawsuit was originally filed in October, with JAY-Z referred to anonymously as “Celebrity A.” It was refiled on Sunday, December 8, with JAY-Z named as a defendant.
