On October 1, 1960, Nigeria declared its independence from British colonial rule, marking a significant turning point in the nation’s development.

Independence Holiday 

In honour of the country’s 63rd Independence Day celebration, the Federal Government has designated Monday, October 2, a national holiday.

In a statement released on Thursday by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the interior minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Tunji-Ojo told Nigerians that the Federal Government would continue to work hard to address the issues the nation was now confronting.

“It is today a known fact that difficult socioeconomic and security challenges are global and Nigeria is not isolated.” the minister said.

Furthermore, Tunji-Ojo urges the citizens to remain united to achieve the greatness the country is destined for.

“In the world, being Africa’s pride and beacon of hope for the Renewed Hope of President Bola Tinubu.
