For people looking for educational options, career prospects in UK, Canada, the hike in the price for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is likely not good news.
From September 2023, test takers from Nigeria will have to pay ₦107,500 for their academic IELTS tests.
This information came in a statement by the British Council obtained on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Basically, this applies to everyone wishing to work or study in the United Kingdom.
This is regardless of nationality, where it is necessary to pass the IELTS tests in accordance with the UK legislation.
Right now, the price is between ₦80,000 and ₦90,000 in Nigeria.
IELTS Statement
“Dear valued Test Taker, we would like to inform you that effective from 1 September 2023, there will be a price increase for IELTS tests offered by the British Council.
“The new prices will be NGN 107,500 for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, NGN 116.000 for UK Visas and Immigration, and NGN 104,000 for Life Skills.
“The new prices are necessary to sustain the high-quality of standards for your testing experience.

Non-native English speakers all across the world have accepted IELTS as proof of their language skills.
Furthermore, people looking for educational options or career prospects will have to write the International English Test.
Also, a joint effort by the British Council, Cambridge English Language Assessment, and IDP Education Australia has been made for compulsory visa approvals in the UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
