There has been an ease in the gridlock along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as the Federal Government open some closed sections of the road.
According to the officials of the Federal Ministry of Works and housing, the opening was to allow free flow of traffic ahead of the festive season.
The Zonal Director of the Federal Highways, South West, Adedamola Kuti explained that the government had announced that the barriers would be removed on December 15.

According to the Zonal Director, the gradual opening of the road which began, on Monday, would allow free movement for travelers.
“So, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway project, we have already attained a level at which we can allow those barriers to be removed,” he said.
All obstructions on section one of the expressway (Ojota – Sagamu) have been removed, on Monday, and the rest would be removed on or before the given date by the government.
“So rather than waiting till Thursday, December 15, just as we did at the other section, from Old Toll Gate up to Otedola Bridge, which we opened to traffic last week, we have also completed this stretch up to the level where we can allow movement,” Kuti said.
The zonal director revealed that the contractors would return to the expressway by January, to complete the project.
