Finidi George has stepped down as the head coach of the Super Eagles, just two months after his appointment.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had high hopes for George, who was tasked with stabilizing the team after the departure of Jose Peseiro.
However, disappointing results in recent World Cup qualifiers led to his resignation.
George’s tenure was marked by two lackluster performances, including a 1-1 draw with South Africa and a 2-1 loss to the Benin Republic.
The Super Eagles now sit in fifth place in Group C, trailing behind Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin Republic.
According to sources, the NFF and Sports Minister John Enoh had agreed to appoint a foreign technical adviser to work alongside George, but the former coach opted to resign instead.
