FG Seeks Stronger Ties With Indigenous Oil Firms

Nigeria is looking for ways to increase its crude oil production, with the hope it would grow the oil and gas sector.

The nation’s major source of revenue is crude oil sales. 

To achieve this, the Federal Government is exploring a closer relstionship with local oil service providers.

This move was hinted by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, during his visit to Geoplex Oilfield Services and WCS facilities in Port Harcourt.

Collaboration With Oil Firms

He was represented by his media assistant, Nneamaka Okafor.

Lokpobiri stressed the need to support local service providers to meet national production goals.

“Our efforts to boost production won’t work without strong partnerships with local oil service companies,” Lokpobiri said.

“Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, we’re taking clear steps to ensure these collaborations succeed.”

The minister praised Geoplex Oilfield Services for its advanced facilities and global standards, noting its ability to compete with international companies.

Recognising Local Oil Firms Contributions

Geoplex Group Chairman, Mr. Wole Ogunsanya, thanked the government for acknowledging the role of indigenous companies in the sector.

He highlighted Geoplex’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s production goals through innovation and expertise.

“We’re proud to be part of the solution to Nigeria’s production challenges,” Ogunsanya said.

“Our facilities, investments, and technical skills are focused on complementing the government’s efforts.”

Creating The Right Environment

Lokpobiri also underlined the need for a supportive business environment and continued investments to empower local providers.

Furthermore, he said these efforts align with the government’s goal of revitalising the oil firms and restoring Nigeria’s position as a top oil producer in Africa.

“The work here is outstanding,” Lokpobiri added.

“Companies like Geoplex show that local firms can deliver world-class results.

With this dedication, Nigeria’s oil sector has a bright future.”

Additionally, the Federal Government’s push for more local involvement aims to create jobs, grow the economy, and maximise the potential of the oil sector while meeting production targets.
