FG Issues New Directive On SIM Registration

The Federal Government has issued a new directive on the replacement of Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs).

The new policy is geared towards ensuring that all subscriber registrations were linked with National Identification Numbers.

In a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs, National Communications Commiion, Ikechukwu Adinde, and Head, Corporate Communications, National Identity Management Commission, Kayode Adegoke, the Federal Government disclosed that the new policy was approved by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.

On conditions of replacement of SIMs, the government stated that “the subscriber shall present a NIN; that an effective verification of the NIN is carried out by the NIMC.

“And that the relevant guidelines and regulations of NCC concerning SIM replacement are fully adhered to.”
