Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has been sued by US Writer and ex-magazine columnist, E. Jean Carroll for battery and defamation.
The suit was filed on Thursday under the Adult Survivors Act, which gives adults a one-year window to file a claim.
Carroll is accusing the former president of battering and raping her in the dressing room of a New York department store in the mid-1990s.

The writer is also accusing Trump of defamation based on statements the former president made, last month.
Carrol is requesting a retraction of the defamatory statements and damages to be paid.
Her lawsuit partly reads, “Trump’s underlying sexual assult severely injured Carroll causing significant pain and suffering, lasting psychological harms, loss of dignity, and invasion of her privacy. His recent defamatory statement has only added to the harm that Carroll had already suffered.”
Carroll had earlier sued Trump for defamation in 2019 after he denied her sexual assault allegation claiming she made up the story to boost sales of her new book.
