Do These 3 Things Before Visiting Someone You Met Online

The online space is like a mirror that gives you what you place before it.

The times are hard now, and social media is making it even tougher to trust anyone these days.

Social media

This is because many have used and are still using the online space to wreck havoc, scam individuals, deceive many, and so on.

However, almost everything that has a bad side also has a bright side.

Many have recorded uncountable blessings on social media, like fame, jobs, contracts, and so on.

Also, some have built meaningful relationships online, and many have shared testimonies of finding love on social media as others met their life partners online too.

Because social media is a platform where people are gathered, it is inevitable for people to meet and build relationships of different kinds.

However, if you are looking at finding love or planning to physically meet someone you have been communicating with online for some time, don’t go without doing the following:

1. Social Media Scrutiny

If you want to know who your online friend truly is, you may need to check through their posts, the people he or she follows, how he comments, and the posts he reacts to or watches.

It is funny but true that people’s social media pages are a reflection of who they really are.

Go through the pictures and videos of the person and be sure that they match the person’s identity.

If the social media account he or she is using is a new page or page with scanty posts and bad grammar, it could be a red flag you should investigate well.

2. Meet Up At A Public Spot

If you are satisfied with what you have seen on their social platforms and want to plan a meeting, agree to meet in a public space and not at their house.

Ignore the butterflies in your belly and remember that your life is more important, as love will grow between you two if it’s meant to be.

You just have to give it time and stay classy while at it, don’t be in a haste to visit the house.

3. Inform Your Folks

When you notice you have started developing feelings for someone you met online, inform your friend or family member.

Let them know the person via pictures/video calls, and even speak with them on the phone if possible.

Also, when you plan to go on a physical meeting with the person, tell your folks and let the person you’re going on a date with know that your folks are aware of your whereabouts.
