President Bola Tinubu has directed the distribution of food items to different constituencies, but people are only hoping these ‘Tinubu palliative’ would get to them.
The distribution is made to members of the National Assembly for their constituents.
The president ordered the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, to provide the lawmakers with the food items.
Presidential aide, Dada Olusegun, confirmed the distribution of Tinubu Palliative via his X handle on Thursday.
According to him, the Senators and members of the House of Representatives have started taking stock of the Federal Government’s palliative items for their constituents.
The Palliative
He said the food items were part of efforts to ease life for all Nigerians.
Olusegun added that each member of the lower chamber received items worth ₦100 million.

Senatorial constituencies on the other hand got palliative items worth ₦200 million.
He said: “After initial logistics delay, I can now confirm that Senators and members of the House of Representatives have started taking stock of the Federal Government’s palliative items for their constituents as part of efforts to ease life for all Nigerians.
“Each HoR member received items worth ₦100m while Senatorial constituencies got palliative items worth ₦200m.”
The Fear
While many Nigerians are very happy over this development, there are many others entertaining very strong fears.
This fear springs from the fact that this is not the first time the government is giving to the people.
Unfortunately, as confirmed by many, the people never receive this gifts.
What is more annoying is the fact that the gifts are never accounted for.
During COVID-19 several palliatives we’re distributed, but it never got to house holds. They were stored in different warehouse and kept away from Nigerians.
While many Nigerians hail the government for the palliative, many others are more concerned about it getting to those it is meant for.
Also, they express worries that politicians could hoard the palliatives and use them as campaign gifts.
