Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pan-African Entertainment Company, Kugali, premiered their new series ‘Iwájú’ on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria, at Filmhouse Cinemas IMAX Lekki.
The series will debut on Disney+ today with all six episodes.
The event featured renowned filmmakers such as Olufikayo Ziki Adeola (director), Hamid Ibrahim (production designer), Tolu Olowofoyeku (cultural consultant), and Ré Olunuga (music), along with special industry guests and celebrities, including voice cast members Ireti Doyle, Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah, Kehinde Bankole, Bisola Aiyeola, and more.
‘Iwájú’ will also air on Disney Channel via the DStv platform throughout April and May, allowing audiences across Africa to enjoy the series where Disney+ is not available.
Director Olufikayo Ziki Adeola described ‘Iwájú’ as a love letter to Lagos, Nigeria, and a tribute to the rich African storytelling tradition.
