The opening ceremony of the 2024 African Military Games (AMGA) is set to dazzle audiences Wednesday, 20th November, with performances by Nigerian music icons D’banj, Olamide, Yemi Alade, and Timi Dakolo.
The Nigerian Army announced the line-up on X, stating, “The stage is set and the legends are coming for the opening ceremony of #AMGA2024.
Watch @Olamide, @iamdbanj, @yemialadee, and @timidakolo light up the opening ceremony like never before.”
The event marks the start of the second edition of the African Military Games, which will see athletes from 25 countries competing in 19 sports.
Most activities will take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, with the exception of obstacle crossing and shooting events.
The Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) is organising the games in collaboration with the International Military Sports Council (CISM).
This is not the first time D’banj and Yemi Alade will perform at major sporting events.
D’banj performed at the 2013 AFCON closing ceremony, where Nigeria’s Super Eagles won.
Yemi Alade performed at the opening ceremony of the last AFCON in Ivory Coast, having also sung the tournament’s official soundtrack.
