D’Banj Launches Koko FC, Set To Compete In Lagos Liga 2024

Nigerian music star Oladapo Daniel Oyebanji, popularly known as D’Banj, has officially entered the football scene with the launch of his own club, Koko FC.

The club is set to compete in Nigeria’s premier private football league, Lagos Liga, which kicks off in December 2024.

Koko FC will face off against 11 other teams, including Supremos FC, founded by D’Banj’s close friend and fellow music executive Don Jazzy.

Notable teams in Lagos Liga include Mavbrooks SC, founded by Ayodeji E. Olowe; Applebee FC, established by Nnazilim Egbuonu; and Firecrackers FC, led by Stephanie Etiaka.

Additionally, business leaders Suraj Oyewale, Seye Bandele, and Egbe Omorodion founded Jarus FC, Superstar FC, and Knights FC.

The league provides a platform for non-professional players and veterans to compete in high-stakes 7-a-side matches.

Moreover, the organisers have announced a N50 million prize, the largest per-game payout in Nigerian football.

Expressing his excitement, D’Banj stated, “I’m thrilled to take my passion for football to the next level with Koko FC.

Lagos Liga is an innovative platform that will showcase Nigerian talent and entertainment. I’m looking forward to the clash of titans!”

Furthermore, Favour Godfrey, a Lagos Liga representative, highlighted the league’s goal to promote Nigerian football, culture, and entertainment globally, adding, “This is just the beginning.”

In addition, the league will host events like the Fans Challenge and Skills Challenge, giving supporters a chance to win prizes.

With D’Banj’s Koko FC and Don Jazzy’s Supremos FC, Lagos Liga promises an exciting football spectacle this December.
