Coronavirus hits Rivers State, after Gov Wike orders shutdown

Rivers State has been struck with the Pandemic Coronavirus, Code-named COVID-19, hours after the Governor of the State, Nyesom Wike, shutdown flights, vehicular movement amongst others to avoid the virus.

According to the Governor, the move became necessary, following the spread of the Coronavirus in the country, and this is part of our strategy to avoid it in Rivers State.

However, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, announced additional five new cases of Coronavirus in country, bringing the total confirmed cases to 51.

According to the Agency, the five new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Nigeria, two in Federal Capital Territory, FCT, two in Lagos and one in Rivers.

“Three are returning travelers into Nigeria and two are close contacts of a confirmed case.

“As at 11:25 pm 25th March, there are 51 confirmed cases, 2 discharged and 1 death,” NCDC said through its official twitter handle.

The current breakdown of cases shows that Lagos leads with 32 numbers of patients, followed by FCT 10, Ogun with three.

Ekiti, Oyo, Edo, Bauchi, Osun, Rivers, all have just one case.
