Coleen Rooney has revealed the abuse that son Kai has to contend with on the field, as opponents have told him that his father Wayne was “sh*t”.
Ex-England captain Wayne Rooney is looking for his oldest child to follow in illustrious footsteps at Manchester United.
Kai, who is now 15 years of age, forms part of the Red Devils’ academy system and has registered over 50 goals for the club at youth level.
He appears to have inherited finishing prowess from his famous father, who is United’s all-time leading scorer, while also boasting a similarly fiery temper.
That can get the better of him at times, particularly when rivals are attempting to get inside his head and disrupt his game.
‘Your dad’s sh*t’
Coleen Rooney has told the Stick to Football podcast from Sky Bet of the jibes that her son has to try and learn to deal with: “A few years ago, I remember my son Kai took a penalty at St George’s Park, where we were for a tournament.
“It went to penalties, Kai stepped up and just skied it.
“Afterwards I asked him how he could take a penalty like that, and he told me he was just fuming as the goalkeeper was saying ‘Your dad’s sh*t’, and he got dead angry.
“It doesn’t happen to him very often, but it did then, and you can see in some games where they give you a little push.
“He’s strong-minded though and usually shrugs it off.”

However, taunts are something that Kai Rooney is going to have to get accustomed to facing, as his dad – who was recently relieved of managerial duties at Championship side Plymouth – once did.
With time still on his side when it comes to forging a professional career at senior level, he can use that passion as competitive fuel, rather than allowing it to become a distraction.\
