After 20 consecutive hours of negotiations, on transfer deadline day, January 31, 2023, Chelsea made a breakthrough with the signing of Enzo Fernandez.
Enzo Fernandez was signed from Benfica with a €121 million ($131 million, £106 million) release clause.
The 22-year-old signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea.
The deal breaks the previous Premier League record fee of £100m that Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish when he joined from Aston Villa in 2021.
He becomes Chelsea’s seventh signing of a busy January transfer window, following the arrivals of Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Malo Gusto.
