A Kaduna High Court has acquitted and discharged the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat Ibrahim.
The IMN leader and his wife were slammed with an eight-count charge bordering on culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disruption of the public peace, among others.
They arrested and first detained in 2015, after IMN supporters clashed with soldiers in Zaria, Kaduna.
Trial judge, Justice Gideon Kurada said the case of the prosecution was not proved beyond reasonable doubt
The couple, been had pleaded “not guilty” to the charges preferred against them when they were arraigned.
