In a series of tweets via his Twitter page on Wednesday, Sani said the tests are a means of averting extra-judicial killings.

The former Kaduna governorship aspirant said this in reaction to the unfortunate killing of a Lagos lawyer, Bolanle Raheem on Christmas day by a police officer.

The late lawyer and her family were returning home after visiting an eatery and had tried to make a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge when the unfortunate incident happened.

Senator Sani also linked the incessant killing of innocent citizens by trigger-happy police officers to domestic issues,  stressing that the officer’s mental health may be triggered by issues with their spouses.

He wrote: “When a policeman has a bitter quarrel with his wife over money or bills and you send him to the checkpoint with arms, no one is safe; neither the poor in a Bus nor the Rich in a Mercedes.

“Policemen deployed to the Checkpoints need to undergo psychological, drug, alcoholic and psychiatric tests. So many people have lost their lives in the hands of armed policemen with any of the above disorders.”
