Popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital following a reported rise in body temperature while in custody of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Bobrisky was arrested on Monday at the Seme Border by the NIS as a “person of interest.”
Since his arrest, uncertainty has surrounded his fate, and the nature of the allegations against him remains unclear.
According to the Deputy Controller of Immigration and NIS spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, Bobrisky is currently undergoing interrogation.
However, there has been no official word on whether he will face charges in court or be released once his health condition stabilises.
A source within the Immigration Service, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that Bobrisky was transported to the hospital after developing symptoms.
Also, this includes a sudden rise in body temperature that required urgent medical attention.
Despite repeated attempts, The Nation could not confirm Bobrisky’s health status or the details of his hospitalization from NIS headquarters.
NIS spokesman Kenneth Udo did not respond to calls or text messages seeking clarification on the matter.
This medical incident occurred against the backdrop of a separate investigation into allegations that Bobrisky failed to serve a full six-month jail term in prison.
A panel established by the Federal Government, led by Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani of the Ministry of Interior, submitted its report on Monday.
The panel found no evidence that Bobrisky avoided his prison sentence but acknowledged that he enjoyed certain privileges while serving his term.
