Wildfires Ravage California

The wildfires, fuelled by hurricane-strength Santa Ana winds, have scorched over 38,000 acres (approximately 60 square miles) in the past week.

More than 12,000 homes and buildings have been destroyed, nearly 200,000 people displaced, and 24 lives lost so far. Officials fear the death toll could rise as firefighters and investigators reach areas previously inaccessible due to the flames.

Altadena and Pasadena have been particularly hard-hit, with the Eaton Fire alone damaging or destroying over 6,500 buildings and wiping out entire neighbourhoods.

Experts warn that the fires may spread further this week as winds intensify in the drought-stricken region, which has seen less than an inch of rain in six months.

BeyGOOD joins several organisations contributing to relief efforts, including The Walt Disney Company, which pledged $15 million, and the Warner Music and Blavatnik Foundation, which committed $1 million.

Live Nation has also announced plans for a FireAid benefit concert at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood on 30 January to raise additional funds.

The collective support aims to help families and communities rebuild as California faces one of its most severe wildfire seasons to date.
