With what has happened in recent times with Betta Edu, Halima Shehu, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, Nigerians may become skeptical about women inclusion in governance.
However, Betta Edu’s fraud allegation has provided an elevation opportunity for the ministry’s permanent secretary.
An average Nigerian will say fortune has just smiled on the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan.
His elevation followed the recent suspension of his principal. He has been directed to take over the affairs of the Poverty Alleviation Ministry.

Enitan received a letter to that effect from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on Monday night.
The directive came from President Bola Tinubu that he was to take over with immediate effect.
Edu is being investigated over the ₦585 million transferred to a private account owned by one Oniyelu Bridget.
Information revealed that Oniyelu Bridget, was the Project Accountant, Grants for Vulnerable Groups, in the ministry.
The presidential aide, Ajuri Ngilale said that President Tinubu directed Betta Edu to “hand over to the Permanent Secretary”.
According to the statement, “she is further directed by the President to fully cooperate with the investigating authorities, as they conduct their investigation.

Meanwhile, the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday released the suspended Betta Edu on bail, after seizing her passport.
